Elisa Andessner
lives and works in Linz, studied Experimental Art at the University of Art and Design Linz and Fine Arts at the École Supérieure d'Art et de Design Marseille.
Andessner is a freelance artist working in the fields of performative photography and video. Since 2006, she has been working artistically in residencies, festivals and exhibitions in Austria and abroad, most recently in Mexico, Montenegro and Italy. Andessner has been honoured with awards, scholarships and art purchases by public collections. She regularly organises exchange and exhibition projects with local and international artists and art initiatives, in 2022 with artists from Tehran (IR) and in 2024 with artists from Mexico. In 2021, she campaigned for the renaming of Linz's Glaubackerstraße to Agathe-Doposcheg-Schwabenau-Straße with the project FEMALE* UPGRADE. She is a lecturer at the University of Art and Design Linz, a member of IG Bildende Kunst, the Innviertler Künstlergilde and the Linz artists' association MAERZ, where she has been running the feminist programme series female*upgrade by MAERZ together with other female artists since 2023. Her current project is called FRAUEN*ZIMMERSCHIESSEN (WOMEN*ROOM SHOOTING) and deals with the cultural anchoring of lethal violence against women*.
Elisa Andessner ist freischaffende Künstlerin und arbeitet in den Feldern performative Fotografie und Video. Seit 2006 arbeitet sie künstlerisch im Rahmen von Residencies, Festivals und Ausstellungen im In- und Ausland, zuletzt in Mexiko, Montenegro und Italien. Andessner wurde mit Preisen, Stipendien und Kunstankäufen öffentlicher Sammlungen gewürdigt. Sie organisiert regelmäßig Austausch- und Ausstellungsprojekte mit lokalen und internationalen Künstler*innen und Kunstinitiativen, 2022 mit Künstler*innen aus Teheran (IR), 2024 mit Künstler*innen aus Mexiko. 2021 setzte sie sich mit dem Projekt FEMALE* UPGRADE für die Umbenennung der Linzer Glaubackerstraße in Agathe-Doposcheg-Schwabenau-Straße ein. Sie Lehrbeauftragte an der Kunstuniversität Linz, Mitglied der IG Bildende Kunst, Innviertler Künstlergilde und der Linzer Künstler- und Künstlerinnenvereinigung MAERZ, wo sie seit 2023 gemeinsam mit anderen Künstlerinnen die feministische Programmreihe female*upgrade by MAERZ betreibt.
